jdownloads logo bigWe are pleased to release jDownloads 4.1.3, a maintenance and stability update for the 4.1 series.

This release focuses on improving reliability in several important areas of daily use. A major part of the work went into backend scan and monitoring behavior. Scan processing for larger file sets has been tuned, progress reporting has been made more consistent across phases, and the scan helper and worker logic were hardened around sessions, redirects, model loading, logging, and error handling. The result is a more stable and predictable backend scanning workflow.

jDownloads 4.1.3 also improves performance when generating PDF thumbnails. Large multi-page PDF files now require less processing overhead during thumbnail creation, which reduces load in backend workflows and helps especially on larger file sets.

Another important focus of this update is protected download access and guest login behavior. Several fixes were made for protected categories, protected download links, and related guest redirect handling. Login return handling was aligned more closely with Joomla core behavior, so users are now returned more reliably to the originally requested jDownloads page after authentication. Direct links to protected single downloads were also corrected so they no longer fail too early with a 404 before the normal login flow can take over.

In addition, jDownloads 4.1.3 includes hardening for restore handling and external URL validation, improvements to frontend sorting behavior, safer search form handling, and several smaller stability fixes in templates, search behavior, and backend messages.

Overall, 4.1.3 is a maintenance release aimed at improving robustness, predictability, and day-to-day usability without changing the general workflow of the component.
