jDownloads v4.1.2 Stable released!
Small maintenance update with improved repair messages and a fix for the Related Downloads module.
With jDownloads 4.1.2 we are providing a small but important maintenance update following the 4.1.1 release. The new version finalizes missing language strings and improves several administrator messages connected to the recently added update, asset repair and ACL recovery functions, making these maintenance and recovery steps easier to understand. It also resolves a problem in the Related Downloads module that could lead to a 500 error after upgrade on some systems due to an incorrect helper loading routine. For users already on 4.1.1, jDownloads 4.1.2 is a recommended update for improved reliability and a more polished backend experience.
Please update as soon as possible. For easy installation go to the Joomla Extensions Manager / Updates and install the new update.

jDownloads v4.1: Major modernization update with Joomla 6 compatibility, new interfaces, and improved stability
jDownloads v4.1 is now available as a substantial update that modernizes the component in many key areas. The new version not only delivers important technical adjustments for Joomla 5 and Joomla 6, but also brings noticeable improvements in usability, frontend presentation, upload workflows, routing, and update reliability.
A major focus of jDownloads v4.1 is long-term technical compatibility. Many internal areas have been updated and aligned with current Joomla APIs. This makes jDownloads better prepared for current and upcoming Joomla versions while also improving day-to-day stability.
The modernization is especially visible in both the backend and frontend. Scan and archive monitoring has been comprehensively redesigned and now includes a modern Bootstrap 5 based interface with improved status feedback, clearer user guidance, and more robust logging. Frontend layouts have also been modernized in many places and optimized for responsive output. New and updated Bootstrap 5 templates provide a more contemporary presentation of categories, lists, and detail views.
In addition, the standard modules have been modernized. Bootstrap 5 integration, improved interface elements, and the use of SVG icons create a more consistent and modern look throughout the system.

Today, we have once again recorded a strikingly high number of requests to jdownloads.com from various countries. This led to unusually high server load and temporarily affected the website’s availability. Given the pattern of traffic, this may also be linked to a DDoS attack.
To ensure the stability of the server, a filter has been temporarily activated that only allows access from selected countries. This measure is intended to ensure that the website remains as reliably available as possible for regular visitors whilst the situation is being monitored.
The filter will be deactivated again as soon as the unusually high volume of requests subsides. Until then, some visitors may experience limited access or temporary availability issues.

jDownloads 4.0.52 Stable released
We are pleased to announce the release of jDownloads 4.0.52 Stable.
jDownloads 4.0.52 is a maintenance update focused on frontend performance and user flow improvements.
The main technical change in this release is an optimization in CategoriesHelper.php. The internal queries used to calculate file counts and subcategory counts were revised to significantly improve loading times, especially on sites with larger category trees. In practical testing, this resulted in a clearly faster frontend. In addition, a redirect issue in the site DownloadController was fixed. In affected cases, users were not always redirected back to the intended internal page after login. This behavior has now been corrected.
jDownloads 4.0.52 is therefore a recommended maintenance update for existing 4.x installations, particularly for sites with large category structures or frontend download flows that depend on proper login redirects.
A final release of jDownloads 4.1 is planned for the next few days and will include further improvements and ongoing compatibility updates.

jDownloads 4.0.51 Stable released
We are pleased to announce the release of jDownloads 4.0.51 Stable.
This version primarily fixes two issues that occurred in the last released version. It also includes a few minor fixes relating to file permissions when creating thumbnails and CSS files.
If no new issues are reported, 4.0.51 is expected to be the final release in the 4.0 series. Please update as soon as possible. For easy installation go to the Joomla Extensions Manager / Updates and install the new update.
jDownloads 4.0.50 Stable released
We are pleased to announce the release of jDownloads 4.0.50 Stable.
This version primarily contains important stability fixes for the editor button (frontend/modal selection), including fixes for routing/itemid context and pagination behaviour. In addition, internal preparations have been implemented to facilitate the transition to the upcoming 4.1 series.
As things stand, 4.0.50 is expected to be the last release in the 4.0 series.
All users of the 4.0.x series are recommended to update to 4.0.50.
Start of Internal Beta Testing for jDownloads 4.1
The internal beta test for jDownloads 4.1 has now begun.
In this phase, we test the Joomla 6 compatibility, new features, upgrades and detailed improvements under real-world conditions before public testing begins. The aim is to further improve quality and identify potential edge cases at an early stage.
If internal testing proceeds as planned, a public beta will be released shortly – if necessary and appropriate for final validation.
