Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

I have an eBook in ePub and PDF format and I would like to offer both formats for download.

Can this be done in one entry?

I've search here and through the docs and cannot see where this can be achieved. Is it possible, or do I have to create a download for each file format?

Happy new year folks.

Hi
jDownloads supports just one type of file in an individual Download.
This of course could be a zip file that contains multiple files, such as an epub and a pdf.

Alternatively you could use one of the Download layouts that uses check boxes.  This allows a user to select multiple Downloads which are then combined into a tempoary zipfile by jD and downloaded.

Thanks for the reply Colin,

Putting both formats into a single zip is a good idea.

With the checkbox layouts, would that mean I'd have to create two downloads (one for each format) with their own description and them display them in a group somehow?

cheers, graham

Yes with Checkbox layout create a subcategory with the two separate layouts.
Then add a menu item that lists that subcategory. The SUBcat could of course have several 'pairs' of epub and pdf dowwloads.  Ensure you use same name so they list together
For example "Drake Voyage-epub version" and "Drake Voyage-pdf version"

Then in the backend Options set FrontEnd - Default Sort Order section, set the Downloads sort order to Title Alphabetical
