Change design for search results?

I have two questions:

can i change the design of the search results in a way that i get the same listing then eg files template?
Whats the best way to do that?

Second: Is it possible to open the search page and preload it with a certain searchword - means show directly a searchresult?

Could you perhaps give me an indication of how you would like your search page to look please.  Some of the layout of the search is controlled in the Search Layout file.  Typically there is a horizontal form and a vertical form as shown in attached pics
The background and other styling comes from your templateColin
Reget the answer to can you preload the search is no. (unless you modify the code!!)
