I did  an upgrade to the latest joomla and got the error, i have also installed your latest version.

it looks like a tag problem, when clicking on any tag in jdownloads i get this error

What version of Joomla did you upgrade from? That is what was your previous version of Joomla!

Have not yet tried jD on latest version of Joomla(3.8.4) as still using 3.8.3 but will do so over the weekend. on one of my test sites.
Please note jD has not changed so it might be something in Joomla! which is creating an incompatibility.  Having said that Tag support in Joomla! for other Components has been  somewhat 'fragile' so maybe that has been revised.

I have upgraded my test site to latest Joomla1 and all is OK with my tags

I had to do a rollback to a working version of my website.
I will keep testing this on my local machine, thank you for the quick response.
