Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.

Wrong link type if root folder is sub category

Hey there!

I've found a bug considering the linking on Front-End.

Imagine you have the following structure:

"1" (REAL ROOT FOLDER)
-"1.1"
--"1.1.1"
---"1.1.1.1"
-"1.2"
--"1.2.1"
---"1.2.1.1"

Now you create a menu item ("Show only specified categories") and define category "1.1" as root folder/start path
(The top category visible in Front end).

What you will see now is, that all links in front end module will be like that (For example links to subcategories):

.../component/jdownloads/category/328-sample-category?Itemid=-1

If you open up now your menu item and change the root folder/start path to category "1", all links will be displayed as following:

.../your-menu-entry/your-menu-sub-entry(jdownloads menu item link)/category/328-sample-category
On my site ot would look like that: .../support/downloads/category/328-sample-category

You can see that link type depends on what category you have defined as entry level. If you dont choose the REAL ROOT FOLDER ("1") the linking will be wrong and every time you will see the  /component/jdownloads/ thing.

It is correct that you have not created a default jD menu item for "All Categories"?
This is always required.
