More than one download layout on a site?

Is it possible to use more than one download layout on a site? My situation is such that most user groups will download files individually but I have one user group that I would like to use the "checkbox" layout so that they may select multiple files for download at once. The access to this checkbox layout will be from a joomla menu to a specific category if that matters (or I could do it through a module to a specific category if that is an option).

What you are suggesting sounds very reasonable, but at the moment it is not possible. Implementing this is non trivial and would pprobably be best done through User Groups Settings.
Presently we are striving to get a stable release asap.  Ihave moved this set to Suggestions

Hi,
at the moment can you only define for every jD content plugin output a different layout. 

For the jD component seems for me a new menu item option a good place. But as Colin had say it before, we need first a stable release before we can add new features.
