Hello,

I have another issue, this worked before I uninstalled and reinstalled.  Now on the category list on the front end I see the number of files under that category but when I go into the category no files are listed as shown in the screen prints.   In the backend I see the files and they are in the categories and published.  This can be seen here: http://dd.eflit.com/press/downloads

I should also note that the directory has 0755 permissions and the files have 0644.

Any help would be great.

Thank you,
Mike

Did you publish the files for "public"?

File -> Scroll down -> Download acc -> Public -> Download -> allowed

or:

jDownloads -> Option -> Public -> Download -> allowed

kurim,

Thank you for the suggestion, the permissions are set for both public and guest to allow downloading.

And Status is set to published?

Does it looks like this?

Kurim,

The files are published, as you can see in the screen print I attached.   This was working fine, until I had to un-install JDownloads then re-install it.

Thank you,
Mike

Hi
When you unload/reload any component sometimes the menus do not get set back correctly.  Suggest you try with a new menu item

ColinM,

Thank you, I have given that a try and it did not correct the issue.

Could you please explain what you mean by
Quotethis worked before I uninstalled and reinstalled
. And why was it necessary?

ColinM,

I wanted to move the location of the jdownloads file directory under the images directory so the client could use the media manager to upload files if wanted but when I did that I ended up with two jdownload directories and figured that would be move confusing for the client so I tried to swith it back and it was still using the the wrong directory and I could not figure out how to correct this.   So I uninstalled the extension, manually deleted the database tables and files since the uninstall left them in place and then re-installed.

I think you have checked both the view access and the permissions access on the component, the categories and the downloads.  I think you said it was for public access. From your pic of the downloads in the backend the View Access is clearly Public.  Check also the View Access of the categories in the chain. It is probably worthwhile checking them again as you can clearly see them in the backend.

You should still be able to see the downloads from the front end irrespective of the permissions access settings. If they are not set correctly then you may get the 'only registered and logged in users can download'  Note this may change in a later release as to my mind if you cannot download something then you should not be shown it is there! But that policy has not been put in place (yet!!)

If it is not the view access the I am not sure of the cause but it looks like the database is 'confused'.
Dependent upon how many down loads you have the simplest solution might be to do a full install again.  If you do decide to do that then ensure you also uninstall all the jDownloads plugins and modules before uninstalling the component.  To find the jDownloads 'set' use Extension Manager - Manage and search for 'download' as in attached (the download button is often missed!)

The only other approach to progress this would be for you to PM me with admin login details.

Colin,

Thank you, I have checked the permissions for the categories.  I will PM you with access information if you could take a quick look and see if you see anything before I uninstalled and try again.

Thank you,
Mike

Hi
I have looked at site but have not yet a firm conclusion.  I think it is related to the file id's being changed when you re-loaded but I have not seen that at the component level.  It is a definite challenge when referring to a download in an article - have just reviesed the migration notes!

I have some time this evening and will look again

Solved! :)  It was not a bug. Had not noticed that you were using your own layouts (DD ones).  Switched to standard layouts and all is well. ;) :D
You will notice that I have left in some other layouts which end in (2) - these are my 'debug' ones that just put out the name of the layout sections.
Did the DD ones come from the previous release?  If so I will add yet another note to the migration script.
