Thanks for creating jDownloads! It is so amazing and full of options.
I used Remository for a long time but switched to jDownloads, because it it free and up-to-date.

Two suggestions:
1. When all downloads in a public category has access=registered and you are not logged in, no downloads are visible. It would be more friendly to display all downloads, but protect the download when not logged in.
2. It would be handy to hide a download. So you can make a direct link to that download, without making it public visible.

Best regards,
Peter

Hi Peter - Welcomme to jDownloads
There are numerous articles that may be useful at https://www.jdownloads.net/documentation

I am currently looking at your first suggestion.
For your second suggestion I think the Content Plugin approach might be suitable Content Plugin

Best wishes

Hello Colin,

Thanks for replying. jDownload is very impressive and I have set up my downloads. It really works great and handy.

For your second suggestion I think the Content Plugin approach might be suitable Content Plugin:
I have no idea if that is possible. I looked in it but there is no way to hide a download.

Peter

Hi
2. It would be handy to hide a download. So you can make a direct link to that download, without making it public visible.

So could you please explain further. Obviously a link to the download has to be visible.  Where would you locate the direct link or links?  Using the content plugin you could place the links in an article. Another way would to place the link or links in a Download Description where the Download itself has no actual downloadable file.
As is said 'the devil is in the detail'.

Sorry for the late answer, but it is still actual.
I want to store some files. And then share links to these files for members, so they can download the files without login in. So the files should be available for people who has the links, but not for registred users only. Others should not see these files, because they are hidden.

Peter

Peter,
The basis of a solution is to create another User Group that has permission for Downloading the relevant files.  However that does mean they need to login at least once. But those users do not need to logout.

The general link to the documentation is https://www.jdownloads.net/documentation
Please checkout article Controlled Access to Categories and Downloads. It is in the Access & User Group Sttings section.
