Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

Hello, my dears,

I have the following question:

"Phoca-Gallery" extension has the function "Show inaccessible category" which means if a user is not in the Joomla group that has access to the category, the user will be shown a locked icon! He can therefore not call up the category.
I am also looking for this function in Jdownload or does this function not exist?
If not, I have to do my project differently.

I hope you understand what I mean

Best regards
Jens

Jens,
Not sure I quite understand!!  But I thave explained below two situation

If say a member of the Public does not have permission to download in a Category that category is is still in the pulldown Category List and if clicked on it will show the list of Downloads with a message "Only Registered and logged in Users can download files from this category".  The Download button is not shown for these Downloads.

However the above assumes that the Category view Access is set as Public. If the view Access is set to Registered then those Categories are totally hidden.  Need to take into account that the categories are arranged in a 'tree structure' so all the categories, sub cats and so on need to have the view Access as Public fot the relevant category to be shown.

Colin
PS if you need specific help pease ask again.

Hello Colin
But you got it. Thanks to your explanation, I now understand that other methods are used here at JDownloads.
The category can be called but the message then appears in the category that this group has no access.

I know it from other extensions so that there is a lock symbol in the category if a group does not have access. Here at JDownloads it's different ok that was my question.

Thank you for your explanation

Best regards
Jens
