Add Download description on Category Downloads List page

How do I add a description that will show on the catory list page - I have tried editing the layout page, and it does not seem to work.
I would like a short description to show under each download.

sorry for the delay, I didn't see it before. 

You want to view from every Download the description?
It exist some default layouts for this. But you can also add the required placeholder in the selected layout to get this. You must change in this case the 'Downloads' Layout, not the Category layout.

If you add a Description to a Category it will show that description when you list the categories with List All Categories menu Item using the Standard Categories Layout v3.9 .  But it does not show if you use one of the multi column Categories layout.

For Downloads the Files Layout Full Info v3.9 will show the description but not all layouts show the description.

The Description is shown by including the placeholder {description}
