News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

Hello,
I am new in this testing team... I will try my best, to describe my bug encounters.

First my environmental setting:
I made an Joomla upgrade as told in the video and pdf.
Joomla 3.10.11 to Joomla 4.2.5
PHP version ist still 7.4.33, because PHP 8.0 and 8.1 cause trouble with some components I use.

Right now I am working an the issue, that the downloads are restricted to registered users, despite the fact that it should be public (as it was in Joomla 3.10.11)

The management of the user group settings in the backend is not possible and it throws out the following message:

An error has occurred.

0 Unknown column 'f.form_fieldset' in 'field list' Unknown column 'f.form_fieldset' in 'field list'

The inhertiance of the permissions is not working... If I edit a single download, I can set the user permission to download a file for the groupe public to 'allowed'...

The language issue I had as well is solved by todays fix...Thanks Arno!

Best wishes,
Ines

Hi Ines,
I cannot really reproduce your error message.

Can you tell me, after which operation exactly you have see this error?

It could also be useful to activate the Joomla debug option in global config.
Maybe you get then a more extensive error message.

Best Regards / Gruß

We have not change here anything. You should check the permission settings in jD options and (at minimum root) categories.

I understand not correctly what you mean here. But fact is that the permissions works inherited (when all settings are correct).

if you need different rights, you should use the top level: Download (Not Allowed). Then permission can be granted separately for each category (if desired) and is then also inherited by the downloads. If you want all visitors to be able to download files, set the rights in each root category to allow or use the option root permissions.

Hello Arno,

I made a fresh start with the version 4.0.4. and now it works much better.
Upgrade from 3.10.11 to Joomla 4.2.5
PHP 7.4.33

No more broken user rights issue....the only thing that still is a bit ennervating is the required publish_down date... It appears in the process of editing a download item.

I continue with testing the functions.
Best wishes for an nice weekend!
