Error posting a category.

Attempting to post a new category.  Click on post icon.  Get error at top of screen "Warning  Categories folder not found, so it is not possible to publish this category: %s."  This is for an existing site that was just upgraded from some other platform.  Other existing categories appear fine and function properly.  Any help would be appreciated.
