Hi,

I want to have a user, who can upload and publish files in a specific category called (Food Pictures).

  • I created a user group "Food" in Joomla as a child of "Registered".
  • I created a user "Foodtester" in Joomla and assigned the user to the user group "Food".
  • I created a category "Food Pictures" in jDownloads.
  • I give the user group "Food" all permissions in the settings from the category "Food Pictures": Create (Allowed), Delete (Allowed), Edit (Allowed), Edit State (Allowed), Edit Own (Allowed), Download (Inherited)
  • In the User Groups Settings of jDownloads I've allowed the User Group "Food" in the Group Creation/Editing Settings "Publish new Downloads" and "Published".
  • I created a Menu Link "Create download" and activated the default category "Food Pictures".
The result:

  • The user  "Foodtester" can upload files in the category "Food Pictures" but they are unpublished. In the form there is no field to publish the files.
  • When I try for a test to deactivate some fields inthe User Groups Settings like "Alias" or "Version", this have no effects on the form. The fields are shown anyway.
  • Same effects when I give the user group "Food" the permission to "Edit State" in jDownloads for the whole component.
  • When I assign the user "Foodtester" the user group Publisher all is working fine. The settings in the User Groups Settings are working and the expected effects on the form are shown.
What am i doing wrong? Any hints?

Thank you for helping.

Ok, reading the docs helps: hhttp://ttp://www.jdownloads.net/documentation-for-jd3-2/faq-v3-2/which-user-group-is-used
But one problem still exists: I need to give the user "Foodtester" the permission Edit State for the whole component jDownloads. When I geve it only in the category  "Food Pictures", the Edit State fields are not be shown in the Frontentd Upload Form.

Hi
There are two things to set in the relevant Users Groups Settings - Group Creation/Editing Settings. One is to tick the 'Publish new Downloads' and then, further down the screen, you need to tick the 'Published' option.  The Published option will show the question. The 'Publish new Downloads' gives the permission.
You do not need to have 'Edit State' permission.
