Moin zusammen,

Hey everyone,
I've been working with jDownloads since 2016 and have had to migrate to a higher Joomla version several times. It always worked reasonably well...but recently, I've been experiencing more and more problems, so I backed up the jDownloads database using your tools, completely uninstalled jDownloads, and reinstalled it. I then restored the databases from the backups. Everything's running smoothly and smoothly again now.
But I still have a few unanswered questions:
After a fresh installation in Joomla 5, all the URLs to the downloads have changed. It looks like they're now more SEO-compliant. Is this intentional with a fresh installation of jDownloads, or did Joomla 5 have some influence on it? It's not that bad, but all the links are dead and obviously need to be changed. I just hope the fresh installation isn't faulty.

The next point is counting downloads. I suspect there's a small bug there, and it wasn't working perfectly even in Joomla 3. Even though a value of 60 minutes is set in the user group settings...every click is counted...even though it's from the same IP. Even after the reinstallation, nothing has changed.
Otherwise, great work from you, keep up the good work!

Hi
Clearly the new link is the corret structure. Which version of Joomla did you upgrade from?
Also are you aware that jD has extended the User Groups? In particular there are settings for each type of user: Public, Registered Manager and so on.
There are several articles on User Groups relataing to jD
See

Best wishes

I think my post wasn't very clear. The migrations from Joomla 3 to 4 and then 4 to 5 actually went smoothly. However, there seem to be problems with jDownloads. JDownloads updates suddenly started generating error messages, and I simply fixed them using file upload. After that, there were no more errors. But something was still wrong. Then i created the databases for the downloads and settings using the jDownload tools... uninstalled jDownloads, reinstalled it, and restored the databases using your tools. Then everything worked with the new URLs.

However, I'm pretty familiar with user groups. I use five user groups, and with each one, I click Download 10 times, and it counts 10 times, even though everything is set up so that a user, or rather IP, should only be counted once within 60 minutes. It gets extreme when download managers get active. They immediately add 5-20 entries to the log, and all of them are counted by the download counter.
