News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

I get this error when trying to upload a pdf, after upgrading site to Joomla 5:
499 attempt to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy `PDF' @ error/constitute.c/IsCoderAuthorized/426
Is it a known bug?

Hi
Have never seen this before!!    Maybe it is some pdf management facility you have on your site that is not compatible with Joomla 5

Could you advise which version of php and jDownloads you have.

Does this happen when uploading other types of file?

I tested a text file, and it uploaded without problem. So the pdf seems to be the problem.
Prior, with Joomla 4.4.4 and same php-version, it worked well.
It is the latest jDownload-version.

How are you uploading the file?  Is it when creating a new Download or are you using the Files facility ?

How large is the failing PDF file?
Colin
PS Yes jD4.0.42 is the latest version

Hi,
I can upload a pdf file without any problems with Joomla 5 and jDownloads.

So for me it doesn't seem to be a jDownloads error. It's more likely a misconfiguration. The Imagemagick security policy doesn't seem to allow them to do this pdf to png conversion.

When you use the google search with the error message you should find a lot results and solutions. Or contact your hoster.

You where right Erno.

I had fallen for the temptation to create thumbnails of pdf-files.
As soon as I deactivated that it started working as normal :)

Thankyou

Normally also the create thumbnails of pdf files schould work as expected. If the required extensions have been installed on the server and correctly configured by the hoster.  ;)
