I have a download front end screen where the user captures the date of creation of the download and I need to obtain the creation date that the user writes, however the current date is always obtained and not the date that the user writes, is there any way to obtain the date that the user writes instead of the current date ?, I can not use a custom field because I am using the module jdownloads latest. thanks for the support.

Hi,
Not sure if I have undersood you correctly! There are three date fields in a Download:  Created date, Modified date and File date.In the Front End when creating/editting a Dowload, the Created Date and the Modified Date are in the Publishing section and the File Date is in the Files Section.  If the user does not change the dates the the default values for Created and File dates are the date that the Download was created.  The default for the Modified Date is blank.
You do of course have to select that these date  'questions' are selected in the relevant uploader User Group in the User Groups Settings - Group Creation/Editing Settings in the 'tick' box part.  Also you can make the user have to fill in the Created and File date by ticking the second box as well.

Also you need to have a layout that shows the dates -  the Standard Files Layout without Check-boxes shows the Created and modified dates but not the file date.
Hope this helps but please ask again if you need more advice

thanks for your answer Collin, but what i am trying to say is that i all ready have the created date value in my layout, but when the user put the date in that field the system ignores it and automatically put the current date. i need that the creation date field be provided by the user and does not take the current date by default.

Hi
When a Download is created then jD always uses the current date and time.  But you can change it in the Edit function.   This action was asked by several users some time ago.
There is a discussion that the created date should represent the date that the Download was created.  The uploaded file will have been created at a much earlier date, and that date represents the date the information was 'created'.  So I would suggest that you display the File Date.  That field can be made mandatory for users to fill in.
ColinPS If you need assist with a modified Files (or Download Details) layouts then if you export the one you are currently using and send to me then I will Edit it appropriately and return.
