Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

Updated module won't publish. There is also no "updated" icon on updated download. I set the downloads to "updated", but it doesn't appear as updated in front end and I believe that's why the  module is not publishing because it doesn't seem to be picking up the change to updated status. I have no idea why updated settings won't work. HELP, please. :-)  Thank you for any assistance.

Hi
Editing or otherwise changing an upload does not automatically mark it as updated!

There are several things that need to be set up in order to show the "modified label".  You are correct that the Updated Module does not show if it does not find any updated Download.

First there are some configuration and related aspects.
1. In Config - Pictures tab In the Section "Select values for when New, Hot and Update symbols are to be visible."  question "How many days is a Download to be considered as Updated?" must be a positive nonzero number eg 35  I would also suggest that you select the Hot and New fields.  These days using the CSS buttons is best -set field 'Use CSS buttons instead of images?' to Yes.

2. In the relevant User Groups Settings for your front end 'Uploader' UGs you need to select the set up "Mark Download as Updated" in the Group Creation/Editing Settings. This will then show the relevant question in the front end Create/Edit an Upload form

Then in the Front End Create/Edit Upload you need to set the question "Has it been 'Updated'?" to Yes if you consider the modification is an actual Update. Note the Question is always asked in the backend.

Finally if the Updated symbol does not appear then it is probably something to do with the active files layout.
Have attached some pics which might help.  Please let us know if the above solves your problem
