Hi Colin/Arno,

I'm afraid the multiple entries that I reported previously does not appear to be fixed. If you look here http://pdarcs.com.au/index.php/items-of-interest/club-newsletters/category/2-newsletters I'm still getting multiples. I cleared the cache on the server just in case, but still repeats appear.

Please advise if I need to do anything else to force the fix?

Regards, Daniel

Hmm!
Quite an impressive number of repeats!  Please send admin links to Arno and myself by PM.  The fix in version 35 sorted out the bug as understood but this seems another one!

Hi
Just had another look.  See you have added the August Newsletter.  Still two copies of each download.  In each case both seem identical but difficult to see cause just from front end.

We would like to help you solve.  Do you have multiple menu items to this category?

Hi Colin, apologies for the delay, I'd not ticked notify my of replies & did not know you'd responded.

I've sent a PM to Arno & you with login & ftp account details.. In answer to your question, yes I have 2 menu items that pint at this location & also one jDownloads Latest module.

Hi
Need to look at actual files and directories.  Just summarising things observed - nothing totally significant yet.

Found that all the 'doubles' are newly created downloads whilst the others all appear to be from the 1.9 version when you migrated.
You have several old layouts which you could delete.  But not related to 'double vision'.

Think I have just identified the cause of the problem!

You have a menu item in Hidden Menu called Newsletters (Alias: newsletters) with type  jDownloads » Single Category

In Main Menu  sub menu Items of Interest you have  menu item Newsletters (Alias: club-newsletters) with type jDownloads » Single Category

Both of these menu items point to the Newsletter category.  If I un-publish the Hidden Menu item then only one version of the newsletters appears, that is no more 'double vision'.

This is a bug, a different one from last multiple repeats.  It may be that jD is erroneously using the menu name rather than the menu alias but I am just sumising.  Arno will be able to find the 'challenging' code much better than me!

Your links all work, I have found no side effects of un-publishing the hidden menu item. So I have left it unpublished

Colin
PS loved the front page videos - I trained originally as an aero engineer so really appreciated control shown!!

Hi Colin,

Thanks for looking into this, I've sent you a PM on this subject. I'm aware that there are two menu items. Please see PM for details.

Thanks for your help. Glad you like the site!

I will test it with hidden (not published) single category menu items. Many thanks for the hint.

Edit:
Hm... it seems to be a very special situation:
1. the 'Hidden Menu' is 'published' like a normal menu module
2. it shall be viewed on 'all pages' like a normal menu module
3. but has not assigned a module position!
::)

Okay. It was possible for me to reproduce this now.
So it should now be possible to fix it. ;)

@Arno  - sounds very good :D ;D

@ddjenkins -  are you sure you need to keep published in order to use the link?  Alternatively you could look at https://alterbrains.com/joomla-extensions/seo/direct-alias which provide either direct or relative links.  I have used this with article menu links but  I have not yet tried with jD menu links.

It seems not so easy to solve this problem with more as a single category menu item for the same category.  :-\
Must be the second menu item in the 'hidden menu' really published?

Arno/Colin,

Now I'm confused (not hard to achieve) I see one of you unpublished the menu item. It still appears to be working & the repeats have gone. I guess shortcut works & repeats are gone I'm happy to close off this issue. Again, thanks for your work.

Hi
If one of us did unpublish it was an oversight - so apologies.  I know that when I first did my tests and unpublished it I tested that the links in the footer still worked
QuoteYour links all work, I have found no side effects of un-publishing the hidden menu item. So I have left it unpublished
I should have made that message clearer.  Using Hidden menus to get a link is a Joomla! 'trick' I learnt long ago

I'm having this same issue. I have modules set up showing the latest downloads in a single category and I also have menu items for that category as well. I have two sets of files in both the menu item and the module. Is there a workaround for this as I need both the menu item and the module for my site?

Hi
Could you PM details of your site so we can look.  Also let us know which menu the menu item is on.  May later need admin access.

Have you migrated from a jD 1.9 or moved from Joomla 2.5 to 3.x?  We are trying to understand this bug which is proving 'elusive'.
