I would like to be able to view the documents in a parent category in the backend and not see all the documents in subcategories

Here's the problem, let's assume I create "Category A" with two sub categories with "A1" and "A2".

- Category A
-- A1
-- A2

And I put downloads in all three categories, three in the parent "Category A" and two downloads in "A1" and "A2"

- Category A (download 1, download 2, download 3)
-- A1 (download 4, download 5)
-- A2 (download 6, download 7)

When I go to the jDowloads backend and view the downloads in "Category A" I see the following:

- Category A

download 1
download 2
download 3
download 4
download 5
download 6
download 7

And there doesn't seem to be a "Select Max Levels" function to only show the downloads from "Category A".

Maybe I've just missed a simple option, but I can't find it.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Hi
Yes in the backend jD lists all the Downloads in the tree from your selected category.  You can Order by category to group Downloads from the same category.

I am intrigued as to why would one would want a limit in the backend?

Hey Colin,

I have a few categories and sub categories that have A LOT of files, and some have duplicate files, and it seems it would be a bit easier to manage if I could just see the files from a particular category. Didn't previous versions of jDownloads only list the files from the parent category?

Thanks,
Joshua

Yes the jD 1.9 series only listed contents of actual category selected - but by user request this was 'enhanced' to show all in the tree.  One other thing that may be helpful is that you can sort by category so all from the same category are listed in sequence.
