News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

Hi Arno & Colin,

First off, thank you guys for your support with this great product. I had the problem with permissions not cascading in an earlier version & as a temporary fix I ran an sql query to update the assets table as per Arno's advice. That worked & got me running. Today I installed  3.2.19 & as per the release notes I went into Tools & ran Reset Categories Permissions & Reset Download Permissions.

This broke it again & set the permissions to public to not allowed. Two quick SQL queries restored access, but the reset buttons don't appear to be doing their job & in fact create a problem.

See the two attached screenshots. First on is permissions before hand. Then I click Reset Categories & 2nd is the result.

Let me know if you need more info, or want me to do any experiments.

Happy New Year to you guys.

Hi,
QuoteSee the two attached screenshots. First on is permissions before hand. Then I click Reset Categories & 2nd is the result.
We have the permissions tested extensive and it works for us with version 3.2.19 correctly.

Please check the jD component permissions for the public user group. I can not to see it on your pic.
com_jdownloads.category.4 is a root category?

Can you send me login data for your backend (and phpmyadmin) via PM?

Edit:
But i will test before your scenario here again.

Okay. Please try later the new version 3.2.20. This should fix this problem with the reset functions.
Please post then here your result again.
Many thanks.

Arno,

I'm sorry to say this has not fixed it. I only ran the reset on Categories, but it changed the permissions to not allowed for public. I ran an SQL query to fix it again.
In answer to your previous questions, Yes the Rule category was a root one. Attached is a screen capture of permissions for public.

I'm willing to give you back end permission for the site, but I suspect were in different timezones (I'm in Australia) so catching you for a Pm might be difficult.

Hm... i can not understand this. But you are sure that you have tested 3.2.20?
I have it here tested in this way:
- i have created a few categories and downloads
- i have then use the early posted sql query
- i have then checked the result in every item (view permissions): in all items was the download rule viewed as 'allowed' and not more as 'inherited'
- i had then use the reset function and after this checked again the permissions: in all items was now viewed again 'inherited' for the download rule (and as result allowed)

::)

Please send me login data as Private Message.
