Hello All

I'm an oldie who is trying his best to get his head around Joomla, so please forgive me if my question appears a bit lame. Anyway, here it is:

I have a Joomla 1.5.26 site. I want to upgrade my site to Joomla 3.0.1. Is it possible to do this? If it is possible, what steps should I follow?

Peter,
Many of us have been through a learning curve like this - and yes it is a struggle at times. It took me multiple attempts to get it right. :( This is not the place to answer how to migrate from Joomla 1.5 to the latest Joomla 3.x.  There are lots of web articles on that topic so you are best to look at those.  Backup backup backup is essential.  Obviously you need a test site and that could be on your existing server or using something like Wamp on your PC.  Personally I use the Akeeba backup, also look at their tools.

As a starting point I would suggest you just create a standard Joomla 3.x test site without any concern about migrating just to get familiar with it.  Although it sounds a bit unproductive make a couple of categories and a few articles, and a few simple menu items bearing in mind your final target.  Then load in the components, modules and plugins you will need.  This may seem like no progress but it is simply learning, and more importantly gaining confidence.

When it comes to jDownloads then there are articles on migration http://www.jdownloads.net/documentations/category/migration-to-jd3-2-series
