News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

Three hours ago I copied 100 categories and the process is still going on says the backend but in the front end nothing is happening anymore. jD copied 80 cats and now I'm stuck because the script does not seam to finish. There is a cancel button missing for batch processes if things like this can occur.

Hi,
can this be a timeout problem?
What says the php error log?
Please note, that jDownloads must for every copied category also create the folder. Additional must the script also copy the index.html in every new folder.

"can this be a timeout problem?"
==> I don't think so since the batch runns for ca. 2h and then stops for no reason

"What says the php error log?"
==> nothing about jDownloads

"Please note, that jDownloads must for every copied category also create the folder. Additional must the script also copy the index.html in every new folder. "
==> sure, but copying hundred folders and 500 files takes usually max 60sec

My back end thinks the batch process started 3 days ago is still running:

Error
Another batch operation is still in progress. Please try it later again.

Warning
Batch process failed with following error:

I need a solution!!! I am stuck since 3 days!!! I cannot do any batch processes!!!
I need a solution for copying 100 folders with subfolders. I need it very soon! Thanks.

Go to the jDownloads Tools page and reset the 'batch' switch.

The batch progress can not need 2 hours. So here must exist a other problem.  ::)

Thanks, the reset worked. But now the "reset" button is disabled. What do I do when I am stuck again?

... it does. I can see in the front end that every 40 sec one category gets copied. That goes on for 2h and then stops for no obvious reason.

I just copied 2 categories and that takes 70sec. There must be something wrong in the way the batch works.

This button is only clickable when a batch operation had not ended correctly.

Hm... strange. I will check this here again. But i can't remember that this has needed this very long time by my earlier tests.  :-\

Can it be that you have to the same time run other (time-consuming) processes on the server?

Not that I would be aware of any. And it is consistent, the batch is very very slow, always. But only in jDownloads. The Joomla categories batch very quickly.

Carin,
Just as a thought do you have monitoring active whilst the batch process is operating?  I am not familiar with that are of the code but it just occurred to me that if the batch processing and monitoring functions are both active at the same time then there could be a 'fight'.  I suspect that the batch code does try to temporarily turn off monitoring but if for some reason that did not operate correctly then just maybe...  Could be worth a try anyway.
