Hi,

While Joomla is a powerful publishing platform, it presents many challenges to users who want to maximize their placement in search engine results. In particular, Joomla web sites violate numerous best-practice guidelines for search engine optimization or SEO.
One of the main problems with Joomla SEO is ranking factor dilution (commonly referred to simply as the duplicate content problem), a phenomenon whereby ranking factors are spread across many different URLs that are all loading the same or related content. In this scenario, the ranking factors lose their relative importance since the search engine cannot apply the full weight of the ranking factors to just one URL.
So, the platform Joomla are good parts and bad parts.

Thanks!

Arno

Hi,
thanks for your opinion and experiences about this theme.
I have self a few problems with this:

So i had to use redirect rules in .htaccess.

Good info, I did not know that about Joomla. Do you think Joomla can fix or improve this duplication problem?

This is perhaps reason why Joomla is not so popular when it comes to seo idea. As a matter of fact every time i stumbled to Joomla powered blog or site, you can immediately see violations from the users itself that cause the entire platform.

Yeap, I had the same problem and resolve that by editing .htaccess file.

I have seen in the maintime, that it exists also a 'redirect plugin' for Joomla, in the extensions directory on the Joomla.org.
This makes it easier.
