News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

Not able to download larger files after last update

I wonder why suddenly my jDownloads does not function like it did before the last update.

Environment:
Joomla! Release version 3.6.5
jDownloads version 3.2.46
System Information: PHP 5.3.29, MySQL 5.5
It is a live website - Hostgator shared server

As of the latest jDownloads update, all of a sudden files that were between 220 and 500 MB could no longer be downloaded.  First, they would download a file of 0 bytes, and now files do not download at all but a 500 error is received.  Before that update, all worked well and there never was a problem.  Currently, files of 220 MB or less download normally, but above that do not.  I have compared the settings from an earlier database and cannot see any differences.  The logs show files being downloaded by me or users testing it, with full byte totals, but when looking at the resulting product file, it is empty if it downloaded at all.

I have contacted the webhost and they say there were no changes to the parameters of the hosting server or my account.
I did not change anything from the previous jDownloands version to the new update, but it just stopped working.  I am stumped and wonder if anyone else has had this issue and if I am missing something really simple.

Hi
I do not know of any change in jD that inhibits download size.  Could you check if the site has a timeout or maybe changed the limit as very large files might take some time.
Perhaps you could PM me your site so I can try and see what is happening.
Oh - as a thought have you checked with different browsers?
