News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

My sites use the standard jdownloads directory for uploading files to.

I suppose (don't know) that I could change this somehow so that hackers have a tougher job of finding it.

Is it possible to put the folder outside of public_html? If so, how?

Hi,
i have this not tested until today.
But you can try this self:
- copy the upload root folder with all subelements to a position outside from the public_html folder
- correct the path in configuration TAB: Downloads to the new folder
- test the download and uploads

But please note that all media files can not be more played (mp3, mp4, flv).
Best Regards / Gruß
Arno
