Different layout for different categories

I have multiple categories, all are displaying in simple list mode, however on some categories, due to the nature of the downloadable files (Change control) I need there to be the details link to take them to the details page, and on other categories where the details is not required I dont want it to be visible.

I have the layout with details button all working, but I now dont know how I can specify that one link to one category uses layout A and all others use Layout b?

And please get a better Captcha, I can hardly read what it gives me
