Category permissions reset after update

After updating jDownloads 4.0.42 on Joomla 5.1, I noticed that the download category permissions for registered users are reset every time I save the category settings. Has anyone experienced this issue with ACL inheritance, and is there a recommended fix without rebuilding all permissions manually?

Hi,
I would suggest that you update to jD 4.1.3 as that is the current release

Also think it is advisable to update to the latest version 5 of Joomla
But first take a backup!!

Hi,
this does not look like a common jDownloads issue. We have only seen very few isolated ACL-related cases so far.

As Colin has already suggested, please first update to the current jDownloads version 4.1.3, make a backup before doing so, and then test again. The recent updates include ACL asset repair logic, but explicit permissions are not reset automatically.

If the problem still exists after updating, please tell us:

- whether the category has explicit permissions set or only inherited ones
- which user group is affected
- what exactly changes after saving the category

That should help to see whether this is a real reproducible bug or a local ACL configuration issue.
