Is it possible to have another captcha than the recaptcha from google? Google is known not to be privacyfriendly so I am looking for a european gdpr compliant captcha for jdownloads.

Hi3
The challenge here might be that the Captcha-Recaptcha is supported by Joomla
Have you tried the most recent  Catcha, that is V3
There is jD documebtation at
Article on CAPTCHA

Hello Colimn,
I read the article, but for the captcha I need a google account and a google product. I dont have a google account, and I don't want an account with a company which regurarly is fined for vioalating privacy rules.
For the privacy of my visitors I don't want to use any google service, so for captcha I look for a GDPR compliant captcha which can be used with jdownloads.
ie no google fonts but bunnyfonts, no google maps but openstreetmap

Hi
If you look at Joomla Extensions there are several 'non google' ones which might be suitable. there are several that run in Joomla 5 and 6 - also they are free.
As most of these would probably work with jD as
jD is just concerned which user group(s) will be using Captcha but it would of course need to be tested.

hCaptcha Free is probably worth trying as I believe it is similarly structured. It also has a long history of working with Joomla
