I finally took the plunge and upgraded my Jdownloads to the latest version.  The upgrade went well with no errors.

I reset all the permissions and then went back through to set the download and upload permissions to the desired level.  The downloads work perfect however nobody can upload, to include superusers.

When the info is entered and the save button is hit, nothing happens.  Not even an error.  In one case where an existing user edited (updated) a file it actually deleted the old file. Now that file has the following message with it in the downloads admin page:  "this download does not have a file associated with it"

I have messed for hours with permissions until my head hurt and in the end nothing would allow any user to upload a file.  Any suggestions ?

Wow, thanks for responding so quickly.

After a little more head banging it dawned on me to check a few things and I found that the issue was in the template I was using.  I don't have a clue why the template worked in the old version and not in this one or where to start to fix it.  However a very simple work around was to simply do this:

-Open the Menu Manager and go to the item for "Create Download"
-Select "New Without Navigation"  for Target Window
-Select another template (I chose protostar)
-Save and close

This way I can continue to use my template but when a user clicks the upload link they get a new window using the working protostar templated page.  Hopefully this will help any other users that have a template that doesn't play well with JDownloads.

All in all this is a great extension, especially with the new version.  Watch the donations box, I will be sending a little love your way.  lol!

Hi,
good message that you have solved it.  ;)

But you are the first user which had a problem with the creation form and the template. So we must check this a little bit more.

Many thanks for your donation.   ;D

It was a custom template, not one included with Joomla so not too many people will have this problem. This is the template if it helps any:  http://www.globbersthemes.com/demo/magiclandscape/
