News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

There should not be an edit icon on the downloads if editing downloads is not permited for the public.

edit: that was probably a cookies issue after logout

edit 2: that seems to be a massive problem because the download button has the same problem:
reproduce:
* front end
* go to a download (public, but only registered users can download) which displays not the download button but a message saying that only registered users can download
* front end login
* go to the same download

expected:
* the user can now download

current:
* the message is still there instead of the button
* it is not reproducable what happens when, sometimes deleting the cookies helps, somtetimes it doesn't, sometimes after login the button shows up, sometimes the message is still there

I did not come accross that issue since 3.2.9 which could indicate that it is solved with the new usergroup ranking setup - but that is not for sure ...  ;D
