News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

I have users that upload documents via the frontend for several years alraedy. As intended, so far those documents could be downloaded by public users.
However, recently (might be connected with the upgrade to 4.0.36) this has changed and public users don't have the permission anymore initally.
In the joomla config/jdownloads download for public is enabled, but basically without the intended effect.
Is there any additional general setting to consider? Where can I actually find this value in the database?
This wouldn't be too much a difficulty, if  the specific user wouldn't uploads just via frontend. I couldn't find the same permission settings in frontend as in the backend so that he could simply set the download permission actively via frontend. Is there any way to set this in the frontend and what do I need to consider?
Thanks!
