Hi all!

I'm using JDOWNLOADS since a long time, but searching through GOOGLE I found something weird with URLs:

when adding some characters to the URL used by jdownloads , the core joomla is accepting the URL and routing to summary page!!   (ex original page https://www.akaoma.com/formation/ceh-certified-ethical-hacker/documentation-ceh-pdf  then you can try to add /dfgjk at the end of the url and the summary is responding and it shows summary page... that's not correct anymore!!!

In my case I want the user to download ONLY to through the download details layout and disable everything else.
(so in this case system should throw a 404 error because the URL doesn't exist or at least show the original page even the bad characters)

How to disable this summary page???  (through addind bad characters at the end of the url?)

But I also found when the user goes to this not wanted summary he gains access to SEARCH module: I don't want to provide a search module anymore....   how to solve?

I've search in forums and read many many docs but I did not found the answer.

Anybody could help me please????

Thanks!   :)

Hi
On my jD test sites I cannot reproduce your problem.  If I add say /dfgjk or similar then it still gets the original Download.  But it does fail on your site as you say.Incidentally it is not the Summary view that is being shown but it looks from the generated code as part of  all categories listing.Do you have some ReDirect software active?

Are your Downloads on an external site?

Hi Colin!

Thanks for your fast reply.

In fact I'm using REDJ Enterprise for some redirection but no one regarding this kind of URL structure used by jdownloads  (so no way this redirection mechanism may interfer here).   I've also tested by disabling REDJ and problem still remains.

Downloads are coming only from my local webserver  (no external third parties).

Is there any option I may activate / log / debug in order to understand what's going on???    (I have currently only 25/30 files)
I may also during a night remove the tool and recreate everything but it's fastidious and I prefer to find a technical answer to this problem.

I created a MENU entry for each page to show to user with download file.

What can I do?  Any tips?   (I know well webserver & so so do not hesitate to be technical to put hands on  ;)

Thanks in advance!  :)

Hi
Just for confirmation when you disabled ReDJ did you disable the ReDJ system plugin? Also could you rename the .htaccess file back to htaccess.txt for testing.
Note you will need to fully clear the cache each time - most browsers have a Clear Cache plugin that one can readily access - In Firefox I use the Empty Cache Button add on as it also has an option to automatically re-load the page.
If you cannot readily clear the cache and reload then you need to exit the front end after disabling the ReDJ plugin.

I have looked briefly at ReDJ.  Think you have activated their 404 error page as I tried an obvious bad address and got a nice 404 page.
All the symptoms look like a bad redirect or other change to the 'rules'.
Just had another thought.
QuoteI created a MENU entry for each page to show to user with download file.
Do you have somewhere even if in a hidden menu the Default jD menu item List All Categories?
