Plugin to create Updateserver XML files

Hi,

We are using JDownload for years to offer the downloads of the JoomGallery Component. We are very happy with the extension are delight to see that the component has made its way to the Joomla 4 platform.

Now we would like to create the updateserver XML list dynamically out of JDownloads. The idea is to have a category for each downloadable extension with all the versions in it. With the help of custom fields we will provide the nessecary info for the updateserver for each download. Visiting a specific path it should create us the updateserver XML from one category containing all different versions of this extension.

What is the best approach to achieve that?
Is a plugin the best approach or do you think integrating that into JDownloads core would be better?

Since we are developing extensions by ourserves, we could help or even do the nessecary coding work.

How are you handling the creation of the updateserver XML of JDownloads?
Wouldnt it be a nice feature for JDownloads?

jDownloads does have an update server!
But initially I do not think it was enabled it for the latest version 4.0.43!
