Hi everyone, I'm using jDownloads 4.x on Joomla 4, and I've noticed an issue when I replace an existing file in the Downloads section. After uploading a new version of the file (same name), the frontend still serves the old file, even after clearing Joomla cache and browser cache.

I also tried changing the file name and reassigning it, but sometimes the old version still appears for some users. Could this be related to server-side caching or how jDownloads handles file updates?

What is the correct way to fully replace a file so that users always download the latest version immediately?

Hi,
Unfortunately, you haven't specified exactly what you mean by 'upload'.

It's not a good idea to simply upload a more recent version via FTP.
You should always use the standard method via 'Edit Download' for this. If you then select a new file during the file selection process, the old file will be replaced by it.

If any problems do arise, you can delete the old file from the downloads folder beforehand. See image.
Best Regards / Gruß
Arno
