Guys,

I think I have screwed up my folder structure by accidentally moving folders.
jDownloads does work - exept when you get to the final download screen and then it tells me that the file cannot be found... It should be all there, seems that the links have been broken. One thing came to my mind - I have two major catergories (Public Downloads and Registered Downloads. Where should these be? In the jdownloads folder or in the _upload folder which is beneath the jdownloads folder? See screens attached.

Hi
You have been having fun!!
See attached pic tredelijkheid02.png for the directories layout as taken from my test site.  The top categories and the critical directories  starting with an _ are all sub dirs of jdownloads.

Please remember that jD records the 'location' of items in the database.  Before doing anything more please make a  total site backup and also do a jD backup from jD Tools as that may be useful to recover some details in the Categories and Downloads.

If you want to 'reorganise' another time then you can use the 'Batch' Options in Categories and Downloads to move or copy items as these also adjust the database appropriately.  But do not use now until sorted out!!
There are several ways to handle this 'challenge' but it depends on where things are located.

Make a copy of the present jdownloads directory and its sub dirs etc.

How many Downloads do you have?
Have you made Descriptions, preview pictures, added licence details or similar to your Downloads? If your Downloads are just the Title and the actual file to be downloaded then there it is relatively straight forward.  However the Joomla! permissions may be in a very strange state.  I think we may end up having to delete the Downloads from the database but do nothing.

If you go to Categories in backend what does it show?
Similarly what does Downloads show?

Ensure you have AutoMonitoring turned off.

It may be helpful if you PM me super user details.
If the Downloads are 'simple' that is just name and the file to be downloaded then it may be  better to ensure you have copies of all the downloadable files and to completely uninstall jD including database etc. My concern is the Joomla! permissions and also if you have added tags.

Of course if you have a backup before you 're-organised' then that would be good to revert to that.  But maybe you just copied over the directories.  Placing them back where they came from might do the trick but .....
