General / Address Problem using Direct D...

Dear All,

What would explain the following behavior when i inactivate "Send Downloads using the PHP Script" (Reason is shared on an other post, mentioning downloads issue on large files)

Let's say my website URL is  : https://www.myurl.com
Let's say my web provider (infomaniak) internal server address is: /home/clients/dgssfgfg1231564645d1sfgsgvsf/web/

When i try to get a download from my website (jdownloads) using the direct link option (for example Test/debian2.iso) the link that is generated is :
https://www.myurl.com/home/clients/dgssfgfg1231564645d1sfgsgvsf/web/jdownloads/Test/debian2.iso

resulting of course with a page not found !

I must say the following :
- i did try the direct link in the past (last month), it was working well (test was on JD 4.1.4)
- for an unexplained reason, i got this issue (on JD 4.1.4)
- i tried to 4.1.6 update to check, result is the same

and on my side, no update was done either on JD or JOOMLA between the moment "working / not working".

I am checking as well with Infomaniak to see if something happened on their side, but any help or clue would be appreciated.

Hello Arno, yes just tested and issue is still there
Chrome 150.0.7871.125, I also tried in ingognito mode to exclude cache issues

[But please do install the new security update 4.1.6 straight away!]

Do you remember which previous version you updated from to version 4.1.5 (it should actually be in the installation log as well)?

Hello Arno,
Thank you so much for taking the time.

Here are the infos :

Joomla Version : 6.1.2

Jdownloads Version : 4.1.5

PHP Version : 8.3

MariaDB Version : 10.11 Standard

Error message 1 : When I click on the scan fodlers button, the Initialise scan is staying at 0%.
The only message I have is Waiting for the test run to start..."

Now if I click on "Run scan", I have "0/0 Proceed - 25%" and it never evolves.

Hi.
Thanks for the detailed follow-up and for sharing your test.

Current behavior (show link, then login/permission flow) is intentional in 4.1.x, but we understand your SEO/logging concern. Your local core-plugin edit is not recommended as a long-term fix, because it will be overwritten by updates. Please use a template/content override for now if you want non-clickable titles for guests, and keep core files unchanged.

We will review adding a configurable option in jDownloads (for example: "show protected links to guests: yes/no") so both workflows are supported without custom core edits.

If you want, I can give you a clean override snippet for the exact {jd_file ...} content-plugin output path you are using.

Hi,
thanks for the report.

Before we can suggest a reliable fix, please provide exact technical details first:
- exact Joomla version (full number)
- exact jDownloads version (full number)
- active jDownloads layout name (and whether it is core or template override)
- link type used in the file record (external file, mirror 1/2, direct/summary mode)
- screenshot of the broken frontend output (desktop + mobile)
- relevant log/error output, if available

Without these details, we cannot diagnose the layout/rendering and counter behavior safely.

Thank you for your feedback. Before we can make any specific recommendations, we'd first need the exact version details:

- Joomla version
- jDownloads version
- PHP version
- MySQL/MariaDB version
- exact error message (including the full trace) and the affected file/path

Without this information, it is not possible to make a reliable diagnosis.

Hi Lina,
thank you for bringing this to our attention.

We are already working on this router/SEF issue. It is important to us to find a solution that resolves the error without changing existing URLs or rendering old links invalid. As soon as we have a reliable, backwards-compatible implementation, we will post an update here.

Hi Lina,
thank you for your findings.

That means your problem is finally sorted.

There shouldn't be any tick boxes in the 'My Downloads' view at all, as they're unnecessary there.
