News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

General / Problem uploading files into J...
Last post by antonios - 10.04.2025 20:31:58
Hi,
I'm trying to assign a file to an existing category.
Initially I uploaded the file to the Files section, which seemed to have worked.
However when I entered the Downloads section, and assigned the actual pdf file to a file name
no file gets assigned.
The file which was initially uploaded isn't there any longer.
I then tried to assign the file from the "Select file for uploading" field, from my HD. Initially it looks like the file name is visible within the field. Hoever when I click on either "Preview" or "Accessibility check" I get a "404 Download not found" error message.
I am on J5.2.5.

Hi,
we have some examples about access rules and structures in our documentation page.

I think that also Colin could help you in this case. He has a lot experiences with this.
Please wait until he has read this here.  ;)

General / Help on permissions
Last post by antonios - 10.04.2025 14:55:22
Hi,
I'd like all the downloadable documents of my webpage to be downloadable only by registered users. I just upgraded to both J5 and jD 4.0
With current settings, which came from the existing J3 version of jD, I see that some documents seems to be accessible directly by the PUBLIC but when I change the permission to denie the access to PUBLIC, when I go to REGISTERED to set the permission to ALLOW, it just dosn't work.
However as a matter of fact, all documents seem to be downloadable by anyone, independently of how the permissions seem to be set for them.
So what is the way to set the permissions to make sure that just registered users can download documents?

Regards

Help appreciated

Colin,
okay, maybe it is not possible for the user to give backend access.  ::)

QuoteA second very strange message is displayed when I try to display the administration of JDownloads:
This version of jDownloads is not compatible with Joomla 4.x. Please install the update!

I'm with Jooomla 5.2.4! Why a message about the version 4.x?
This is only a non-updated information from a previous version. It should be: : 'jDownloads is not compatible with Joomla 4.x and above.'
This message is correct as you have still the version 3.9.x installed.

Hi,
sorry for the late reply.

QuoteClassNotFoundError
in C:\Apache24\htdocs\plugins\content\tabulizercss\tabulizercss.php (line 24)
if(!defined('DS')){define('DS',DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR);}

Your problem has nothing to do with jDownloads.
You use an old plugin which seems not to be compatible with your Joomla release.

Please deaktivate this plugin in Joomla plugin manager and try then again the Downloads Area Check.
