Hi,
Version 6 will provide a solution here. See pic.
However, this version is still in development and will (probably) not be released before May.

This and that... / same file in multiple download...

Hi
Yes this is available. You need multiple Downloads but they can all use the same downloadable 'file'.
One Download needs to be as usual but the others need to 'point' to the originl Download

When you create a Download then in the Files Data tab you can use the Option 'Or select file from an existing Download'.

Tim,
I have used the link but I cannot find any problem - the site is very extensive.  It is the upgrading of this site that is causing the problem. I will send you a Personal Message (PM).

Hi Colin,

I'm on Joomla 5.4.2, Jdownloads 4.0.51.

This is a site that I am upgrading from Joomla 3.  It uses a cassiopia child template.

Hi
Could you advise the version of jD and of Joomla you are using please. Also what 2 languages.
Which layout are you using - have you recently changed the layoutyou are using? I ask as some settings require a corresponding place holder in the appropriate layout.

General / The menu item for a single cat...

After migrating a bilingual website to Joomla 4 about three months ago, jDownloads was initially working without issues. However, a new problem has recently appeared.

Whenever a user tries to access a jDownloads single category menu item, a 404 error is displayed. This happens in both language versions of the site.

The categories themselves still exist (for example, the Meetings category), and the related menu items are also present (such as Agendas–Minutes). Despite this, the links to those single category pages are no longer functioning and consistently return a 404 error.

Hello,
At the top of a category listing page my site shows "{page_navigation_pages_counter}" just above the files list.  I'm using the latest version of jdownloads and joomla 5.4.3.  how do I resolve this?

Thank you,

Tim

This and that... / Feature Request: Allow Downloa...
Last post by tussockstud - 09.03.2026 04:30:23
Hello JDownloads team,

I would like to suggest a feature that allows a single download item to be assigned to multiple categories.

Currently, each download can only be placed in one category, which makes it harder to organize files that may belong to different sections of a website, such as manuals, updates, or resources.

Could you please let me know if this functionality is planned for future versions? If not, is there any recommended workaround to achieve similar behavior with the current version of JDownloads?

Thank you for your time and consideration.
