News:

Support for jDownloads 3 has been ended
Since 17 August 2023 Joomla.org has discontinued support for Joomla 3.x. Therefore, we will no longer offer official support for our Joomla 3 jDownloads version 3.9.x from January 2024.
Please update your website to the latest Joomla version (Joomla 4 or Joomla 5) as soon as possible. Afterwards, please update jDownloads to the latest published version. The longer you delay, the more difficult the upgrade process for your website is likely to be.

No worries! I had a friend send me the official Haiku icons and I am now using the official icon for hpkg files 😁 You can see them at https://beos.retro-os.live in the download link

Hi
One way is to goto the database and edit that - but take a backup first.
However whilst a bit boring the manual way you are doing it is the safest way.
Also when I do such a task I set myself a target of say 20/day not exciting but effective

I have a bunch of files in .dmg format which were set to the "unknown.png" icon image rather than dmg.png. I see the .png version and manually editing the downloads I can set the file icon and it works fine. Is there a way to go back and rescan all files using the unknown.png file to the new versions? I may write a tool to do this myself but I am not that good with SQL commands...

How can I create a icon of my own and add it for the .hpkg files already there? Or can you create it for me? Either way is fine with me...

General / publishing from front end
Last post by ColinM - 01.06.2025 16:38:25
Hii
The 'options' for the front end users are in User Groups Settings in the jDownloads section of the Main Joomla menu .  So click on User Groups Settings. It will show a list of User Groups and some of their settings.  In your case click on the Publisher UG.
This opens up the front end confiuration for that user group.  Ther are 3 tabs Group Settings,
Group Creation/Edditing Settings and Limits.  In the Group Creation/Edditing Settings there is a setting 'Publish new Downloads' that needs to be set to Yes.  Its default is No.

In the admin iN Components click on jDownloads.  Then scroll down a bit and you will see User Groups Settings - so click on it.  This will show a list of all of your user groups. If the users who can upload from the front end are is usergroup 'Registered' then click on Registered.
Next select the 'Group Creation/Editting Settings'.  Scroll dow to find 'Allowed File Types - it is on the right hand side.  You can then add the required extensions in that field.

Hi
For users who are allowed to upload and create Downloads from the Front End, then their setting are in the 'User Groups' settings.
So in the Components click on jDownloads and then select 'User Groups Settings'.  This opens up a page showing all the User Groups.  If you have one or more users in say the Registered User Group then click on Registered.
This opens up a view with three tabs. these are allthe 'seettings' for that user group.
For example if you need to to allow files with a different extension the you will find in
the 'Group Creation/Editting tab the option to include extra file extension types.  It is on the right hand side.
