Title: Problem with Languages [Solved new fr-FR.com_jdownloads.ini]
Post by: mtgt on 28.01.2015 08:06:29
Hi,

I install the package for french translation.
But admin part is still in english.

I check my profile and I select French as admin language with no effect, admin is still in english
I also check by FTP and the file  fr-FR.com_jdownloads.ini  is well installed in admnistrator/language/fr-FR

Any help to get french language displayed in admin part will be nice.
Thanks in advance for your help

Greg

Hi
Edited: just seen http://www.jdownloads.com/forum/index.php?topic=6891.msg26716#msg26716 about the Dutch Language.  So replaced corrected file and AOK ;D
Maybe a mistake in French one?  Not sure how to check for that.

Edit2  Turned on language debug. Got error message
JROOT/administrator/language/fr-FR/fr-FR.com_jdownloads.ini : erreur(s) ligne(s) 1405
Actually line 1406 - corrected and AOK   :) ;) :D
replace with attached

I also tested getting the French language from jDownloads Languages.  The files loaded OK and they are definitely in French! And I set the main Joomla! default to French.  But jDownloads appeared in English. :(
To check I also tried Dutch and had same problem! :( :(
But if I selected German it was OK ???

Hi Colin,
QuoteBut jDownloads appeared in English
I know this and have already the manager from this language team contacted two weeks ago. But not any reply.
It exist here in the forum a fixed version from me.

In the original french translation exist an invalid character but it was not possible for me to find (and fix) this on transifex.  :-\
Maybe should i upload my fixed file on transifex.  ::)

Not really. I have it also tried and have now a few times uploaded the corrected file. But never is this langauge file changed when i download it afterwards again.  ???
And when i will do it about the 'translate' function. The wrong character ( ; ) is not viewed. Very strange.

Yes I have been back to translflex and always get the dratted ; char at end instead of the " on download.  Found same on j2.5 set as well .

But found the source of the problem - its in the English file!!
QuoteCOM_JDOWNLOADS_BACKEND_SETTINGS_FRONTEND_CATLISTBOX_NEW_DESC="If set to Yes then a link such as 'Latest Downloads' will be included in the 'Category list box'."
; special hint for the always used option in 'auto monitoring'
COM_JDOWNLOADS_CONFIG_UPLOAD_FILENAME_SPECIAL_HINT="Important information: The 'auto monitoring' function use always the results from the function: 'Remove/Change special characters in name'. Regardless of whether it is activated or not. So you should only use for this files and folders (which are to be added automatically) the characters: a-zA-Z0-9 ._- in the names.";
;
COM_JDOWNLOADS_USERGROUPS_IMPORTANCE="Ranking"

So I think that needs correcting and uploading.
Incidentally I would suggest a revised version as follows:
QuoteCOM_JDOWNLOADS_CONFIG_UPLOAD_FILENAME_SPECIAL_HINT="Important information: The 'auto monitoring' function always uses the results from the function: 'Remove/Change special characters in name'. This is regardless of whether the function is activated or not. So you should only use the following characters  a-zA-Z0-9 ._- in the names of files and folders which are to be added automatically."

I also think that this is changed enough so that Transiflex will not try to substitute the old translation.

Hi Colin,
many thanks that you have found it!  8)

But as result (from whatever) have we now a little chaos on transifex.
I have not an idea why but all old translations for this small text (COM_JDOWNLOADS_CONFIG_UPLOAD_FILENAME_SPECIAL_HINT) seems now to be lost.  :o

Transiflex looks to see if base translation (the English one) is changed. If it is it removes the old translation.  This is what was needed as all the translations would have had the 'fault'.
