Title: Upgrade to 3.2 issue
Post by: webtech on 05.07.2017 15:05:37
Hi, we have been using 1.9.2 for a a few years on Jomla! 3 and I now see 1.9.2 is out of support but I cannot upgrade as we have an issue with our existing installation.  I cannot access the "Downloads" page as it just times out and gives a 500 error.  I think I have tracked down the problem;  It seems that 3 categories  I added late 2016 are being replicated but remain unpublished.  I cannot delete these replicas as they have files assoicuated with them.  In PHPMyadmin I can see the correct structure in the ".cat" table like this (screen capture attached);

Training
Training/FMT
Training/FMT/Module 1
Training/FMT/Module 3

Then repeated about 200 times is a repeat of this structure indented under the last category e,g,

Training/FMT/Module 3/Training
Training/FMT/Module 3/Training/FMT

etc

I tried deleteing these replica categories from the table but they simply get added back in again as soon as I try to access Jdownloads in the Joomla! admin panel.

If I try to upgrade following the insructrions by CM I get a SQL error saying the .bak tables already exist.  When I delete the .bak tables I got further errors and I eventually gave up had the Joomla! files and database restored from a previous night backup.

Your help would be very much appreciated as I am not sure of the best course of action now.

Hi,
please tell me at first how many (real) categories and files you have in your downloads area.

To prevent the automated added new items you should deactivate in the jD configuration the Auto Monitoring option.
More later.

Amo; I see 65 real categories but there are 320 when the replicas are counted.
There are around 570 real files but the database table appears to have 5634 rows so I can only assume there are many duplicate files which I guess is why the categories are being recreated and why the downloads screen will not load.

Okay. Have you deactivated the described option?
I don't know the reason for your problem.

But i can your offer this solution:
You send me login data for your backend so i can check the your installation.
Afterwards I could do the migration part to the newest jDownloads version.
