Title: email before download
Post by: kostask33 on 12.04.2016 19:46:53

Hello,
I would like my documents are set for 'public' and are not 'registered'. Meaning that Guest can download without firsts registering or open an account with my website.

My question is how do I make Guest download to  enter his name and email addresses just before download? I would like that the guest fill a simple form before download. I always found this type of download in many Joomla! sites. Is it possible with jdownloads component?

Hi
Presently there is no simple option to request a user fills in a form or sends an email before the can download.  We rely on the normal Joomla! protections and View accesses.  One of the challenges with what you suggest is that the user is asked every time.

What can be done is to use an auto registering extension that will collect the relevant user info, including email address.  Then in jD you can set up an email service that will tell you details of a registered user who has just made a download.  You can set the view access of Categories and Downloads to be Public but download permission to be Registered.  When a Public user tries to Download they get a message saying someting like only Registered Users are permitted to download.

Also when a user registers most login extensions can redirect.  That way everything is Joomla! compliant and you can get details of who has downloaded what.
