Title: Trying to upgrade and migrate jDownloads
Post by: donlussi on 27.03.2016 14:30:12
Hi,
I've read the documentation about updating from jDownload 1.8.x to Joomla 2.5 or 3.x.  I have 3 issues.  But first here is some info.  I was hacked a year ago and the hacking occurred in jDownloads in the Screenshot section.  It was my fault as I was never able to upgrade my Joomla 1.5.26 to 2.5.  I tried.  Then it got hacked.  My hosting company cleaned 136 files of malicious code from the Screenshot and Thumbnail sections.  Now, I am trying to update jDownloads and Joomla.  I have 3 issues.

1.  I am not able to back up jDownloads.  When I click Backup Creation, I get a blank page.

2.  On your instructions you say to delete the old jDownloads uproot folder but you don't say whether I need to delete the Images/jDownloads folder?  Do I delete this one too?

3.  I cannot restore a backup because I can't make a backup ... see #1.

Any suggestions?
Donna

Hi,
you should at first install the latest 1.8 version from jD this could solve your backup problem.

Arno, I did install the latest 1.8.x.  I did everything you said to do.  I found out the reason it wouldn't back up was because I had too many logs.  After cleaning those, then I was able to backup.

You didn't answer my 2nd question, so I guessed at what I should do.

I did everything right up until the very last minute where it was time to restore the backup.  It took me 3 days to get to this point and then when I went to restore -  I kept getting an "error 1062" and "error 1064".  I tried over and over and over and finally just gave up.

Hi Donna,
can you send me login data to your backend via PM?

QuoteI kept getting an "error 1062"
what exactly is the error message? You can also send it me via PM.

It's too late Arno, as I mentioned I gave up migrating.

I've started a new Joomla and new jDownloads from scratch.

The 1064 error mentioned something about a duplicate primary ID
The 1062 error mentioned something about not being able to insert ....
I really can't remember and too late.

Thanks

To start complete new with the latest jD version can be the easiest way. But not when you had many Downloads.
Then it is easier to solve the migration problems. But whatever, you have now done this choice.

Fact is, that it is possible to import succesful old download areas with many thousand files. Many hundreds users have done this in the last months from v1.9.x to 3.2.x. But it is not so easy when you will do it from v1.8.4.
