Hello,
I have a large number of files on an external server I would like to batch import. Is there any way to do this without having to do them one at a time? Maybe a way to make the monitoring folder point to an external server? Or import a text file? Or add directly to the databse? Thank you
Hi
To include from an external server directly would be tiresome as it would be one at a time. Similarly adding to the data base.
jD will handle multiple files through its auto monitoring facility but best done in modest numbers to avoid server time outs. Essentially you copy the directories and their files to the jD root directory as defined in Config - Downloads tab - Upload directory path.
But first turn off auto monitoring in Config - Monitoring - Download directory monitoring? This is to avoid monitoring whilst you are transferring the directories and files. Then upload/transfer say 100 or so directories and files . Best if you do a site backup first. If you have a really large number of files then some people have found it better to do locally on XAMPP as you can have no timeouts.

Thank you. Is it possible to set the monitoring directory to an external folder with a url?
Oh, I forgot to say I want to keep the files on the external server. Thank you
Hi
There is no easy way to do this as a Batch that I know about. Each Download needs to be created first and then you can assign an external file. But maybe Arno has a way..??
Colin
How do I ask arno or did you forward this to him? Thank you.
Hi,
with the auto monitoring function shall only added folders and files which are new found on the current website.
But it is maybe possible to change the absolute path in the configuration. But i have never tried this scenario.
So i can not say it is really possible. ::)
