Title: Upload File & Uncategorized - [Fixed in 3.2.42]
Post by: coupeborgward on 15.01.2016 00:21:43
Hi

The upload file UI in the frontend allows the end user to select uncategorized as the categoy. I would like to disable that. I noticed the option for the drop down box  on the top but how do I disable that from the upload UI. I don't want that any end user uploads a file and assigns it to uncategorized. Is there a way to do it

cheers
rolf

Hi Rolf
It would seem that at the moment one cannot stop the Uncategorised from showing in the pull down list when creating/editing a new download from the Front end.

I had thought that setting the field "Also include a link for 'Uncategorised Only'" in the Config - Front End tab would have disallowed it.  Checking that out was the reason for the delay.

It would seem reasonable that if users cannot see the uncategorised downloads then they should also not be able to load into them but there may be implications.  Perhaps a neater way would be to have an extra field in the User Groups Settings that would allow/disallow inclusion of Uncategorised in pull down list for uploading.

So I have moved this topic to Bugs.

It exist an option in the menu options for 'Create Download'. See pic.
This solved it not completely but could be a temporary solution.

Don't have this option. I'm using latest jdownloads and joomla

Any updates if this is considered as a bug and if it will be fixed in the near future ?

Create a menu type like this on the screenshot.

QuoteI had thought that setting the field "Also include a link for 'Uncategorised Only'" in the Config - Front End tab would have disallowed it.
I will try to fix this later today and publish here the fix.

Hi,
- please copy the unzipped files (from the file below) to this folder on your server: /administrator/components/com_jdownloads/models/fields/ and overwrite the older versions
- go to the jD configuration Tab Frontend and deativate the option: "Also include a link for 'Uncategorised Only'"
- try it then again and post here your result

Edit:
You should reset the menu option (from my tip above) as he is not more required in your case.

Edit: use the file from my later post.
