Title: jDownloads Latest module
Post by: helenbn on 29.07.2015 22:37:48
Hi,

Is there a way to have the files links that appear in the jDownloads Latest link directly to the file rather than the category? (If it is in the settings for the module, I am just not seeing it.)

jDownloads v. 3.2.35

Thanks,
Helen

Hi
In Latest Module the Download name should always be 'clickable' in order to initiate downloading - provided of course you have permissions to download
The categories may or may not be shown, and if shown may or may not be clickable dependent on module settings.  Please see attached pics.

If the Title is not clickable then check Config - Frontend Tab field "Use files title as download link?"

Hi Colin,

Thanks for the pics. What I want is the file name to be a direct link to the file, click on it and you get a (depending on your personal computer setup) a box that asks the classic, "Do you want to save or view file?"

What I currently get is directed to the category that has that file(s) and then you. Need to click again to download. My client doesn't want this. Is there a setting that makes it a direct link rather than a file listing (for that category)?

Thanks,
Helen

The download actions are controlled by various jD Config settings.  I have put the relevant ones into a table in the attached pdf.  Hopefully that will help.

PS have also made some documentation - more to add

Colin,

Thanks for the tips. I have all that correct but it doesn't seem to pass to the module. The links within the module take you to the category layout. Is this by design or can you further configure the module?

Have changed module to link to Download Details.  This does do that but what actually occurs depends on the Config settings.  To download directly I have set
Configuration Downloads tab - Activate direct downloading? to Yes
Configuration Frontend tab - Use files title as download link? to Yes
Configuration Frontend tab - View Download detail page? to No as described in
http://www.jdownloads.net/documentations/item/download-actions-direct-via-summary-page-or-via-download-details

Clicking on the name in the module will then initiate the downloading directly.

PS the 'tip' in the module should be corrected as it does not make it clear what to do

And the module configuration change to link to Download Details fixed it.

Not as intuitive for me but awfully grateful that I now know how to do this again. Maybe the Tooltip could be adjusted a bit to help with this in the future. :)

Thanks Colin!
