Title: Mods making MYSQL use %200+ CPU
Post by: djwabbz on 12.07.2015 04:34:55
Hi, I have had a major speed issue since installing Jdownloads 3.2.34 on a joomla 3.4.3 site (Gantry 5 template), php 5.4.47, MYSQL 5.1 now updated to 5.5 (but the problem still persists) VPS running Linux centos 6.5

Its not the actual component, but more the mods "Top downloads" and "latest downloads" to be exact. I had these showing on the front page of my site, and the page was very very slow. to diagnose why it was slow I used the "top" command in SSH and found that MYSQL is running between 150% - 3-400% in some cases which was making my site slow.

To remedy the speed issues, I went though everything that was displayed on the front page removing mods and checking the cpu level. When I removed the jdownloads mods the CPU came back down to normal levels for MYSQL 9-10% (my site is quite busy) which leads me to believe there is a problem with the mods. I have now removed all the mods from displaying on my site, and the page speed has increased by 90%

Might be something that needs looking into, and does anyone have any advice, on how to display these mods without them using so much CPU on the server?

Thanks in advance.
