Title: Comments and "Auto-Reply"
Post by: wolfspyryt on 11.06.2015 19:54:12
How do I make it so that when somebody uploads a file, they are notified automatically of any comments?

Hi
Do you mean that if some one has uploaded a 'Download' (the 'creator') and another user makes a comment, then that comment should go to the creator?  This is a jComments function to send to the creator.

Where do I set that up? It's not working and I cannot find it in the settings?

Secondly, the email that goes to me, the administrator, the link is wrong.

As a matter of fact, in the admin side looking at settings in Jcomments, ALL of the links are wrong.

Hi
What I was saying is that it is a jComments setup facility,  not a jDownloads setup feature.
At http://www.joomlatune.com/jcomments.html  it lists "Informs the administrator about new comments" and "Allows users to be informed about new comments" so I understood the second one does what you want.  Maybe I was wrong but I am not particularly familiar with the setup or facilities of jComments.  All I have checked is that comments made on Downloads do appear and as far as I can tell they work but maybe there are some 'challenges' with some aspects of jComments. So please do not blame jDownloads if you think something is wrong with jComments.

Anyway I have taken the time to look a little bit at jComments setup. There is a section called 'Subscriptions' that allows setting an object ID and a component where you can define an email address.  So it would appear to be possible for individual Downloads but not as automatic as one might hope!  What could be a partial solution is to setup for emails on a jD Category basis rather than individual downloads.
