Title: Permission problem after update to the new series - [Solved]
Post by: vladas on 12.03.2015 20:57:18
Hi, I have similar problem. As I saw on some other post its not so easy to solve this problem.
I was using JD 1.9 before and now I'm using latest version per today. 3.2.27.

I tried many different things, changing manually, tried to reset all permissions, but I cant make it work.
Its not working even for logged or not logged users.
It says: You do not have permission to download this file.

Please how to fix this?

Hi Have you read the article Controlled Access to Categories and Downloads (Permissions & Access Levels) http://www.jdownloads.net/documentations/item/controlled-access-to-categories-and-downloads

This has several examples in it.
First two steps below are to clean up!  It is a bit tedious but the following should work AOK as a reasonably simple scheme.  The above doc shows more sophisticated schemes  Do not use Deny.  Also  you will need to do Save to see the reults of any permission change.  Another thing is that users 'collect' their permissions when they log in.  So for testing you need to log out and in , And clear the cache! All very tedious, just have tea or coffee or juice or water with it!!

Don't know what went wrong when I was upgrading from 1.9 to 3.2.7 version.

Right now I need to open EACH category, and set up Download Allowed for Public.
Also I need to open EACH download document, and just save it.

After each category has Download Allowed and document is saved then everything works.

Is there any batch command for this, because to open few hundred of categories and all documents will take forever.

@ Colin:
i understand not why you mean, vladas should change every item manually.  ::)

I mean that this is not the right way. Can you send me login data for your backend via PM then i will check it.
All your files shall be downloadable for visitors? Or which structure want you to use?

Edit: I will split this thread to a new topic as it has not really to do with the older problem here.

Hi Vlada,
thanks for the backend data.

I have now created a backup from your jD data. So i can now try to solve this in my test environment.
But i think i have first tommorow the time for it.  :-\

Hi Vlada,
i have now succesful restored your jD data (see pics).
So all your permissions for the jD items should now be correct (Main settings for the component: 'Download' action = allowed and all jD items 'Download' = inherited). ;)
