Title: Error when not connected [Solved]
Post by: pauline on 09.03.2015 12:24:15
Hi!

I have a question, when I'm connected on Joomla, I have the "index" with all the folders. But, when I am not connected, I have to errors that appear.
How can I hide these things?

It's on the FrontEnd.

Hi
I see you are using Wamp, that is also my preferred one.  When you say 'connected' do you mean the Wamp connection or do you mean Joomla log

If you try to go to a 'project' ie a site on your PC, when Wamp is not Connected then you will get errors.  One has to 'connect' to Wamp for it to work - the Wamp symbol goes green.

Hi!

I mean "Joomla connection" like in the pictures.
Capture1 : I'm not connected => errors
Capture2 : I am connected => no errors

Thank you in advance !

Still not sure what you mean by "connect". Do you perhaps mean "logged on"?

Pauline,
So ok when logged in.  When you login at front end is that as Super User level   (this is same as when you log in as the main administrator at back end)?
Tryig to find out details so please excuse the questionaire!  Would apprecite individual answers please.

Error occurs when not logged in and you  use a menu which say Lists all Categories?

Or  perhaps have you used the jDownloads  Content plugin on the Front page?

What permissions have you set for the Public group?

Have you set Deny permisson anywhere?

Hi,

1/When you login at front end is that as Super User level   (this is same as when you log in as the main administrator at back end)?
=> Yes I use the Super User account on the front end and on the back end. But the errors appear when I am not logged.

2/Error occurs when not logged in and you  use a menu which say Lists all Categories?
=> Yes it occurs when I am not logged. I use a menu "Lists all the download" (I do not know if it's the right name in english, I work with french language).

3/Or  perhaps have you used the jDownloads  Content plugin on the Front page?
=> No I do not use the jDownloads content plugins (jDownloads Last Updated, jDownloads Top, jDownloads Latest) because I want the list of all the downloads not only the latest.

4/What permissions have you set for the Public group?Have you set Deny permisson anywhere?
=> I did not modify the permissions of the Public Group in jDownloads or in Joomla.

I hope it will help  :)

You mean with 'Errors' the 'Notice' messages in your pics?
Maybe should you reset the option on the pic below back to 'default'.

Pauline
I appreciate you writing in English - I have a little French as we often holiday in France  So I can usually understand a bit!  But not write!!

The answers you gave are very helpful.  I think the problem is in the permissions.  When you are not logged in the you are automatically a member of the Public Group.  So on one hand you are asking to see the downloads by accessing the List All Downloads but on the other hand  you have not given permission to see them.  jDownloads should give a better message and I will discuss with Arno separately.  I will first however see if I cxan replicate the situation.

There are multiple solutions depending on what you want the public to see so let me know and I will try to advise

Colin

Edit:  Solved by removing link for public download which was not wanted.
