Hi,
I am currently using jdownloads 1.9.1.6 on a joomla 2.5.28 website. Now that joomla 2.5 has come to an end I am looking to upgrade everything to the lastest releases. I have all the components ready to go apart from jdownloads
My question is this...
Is it possible to upgrade my current version of jdownloads (1.9.1.6) to the new release by creating a backup then uninstalling jdownloads. upgrading joomla to 3.3.6 then install the new jdownloads 3.2.24, and restore from the backup made?
or would I need to install jdownloads 2.5.24 to make the backup first?
Any input on how to go about this would be greatly appreciated, as I am ready to upgrade the site but jdownloads is the only component I am not sure about.
Thanks
Wayne
Hi Wayne,
the backup format from 1.9.x is not the same as for the new series. So this is not a good idea.
But you will find in the jDownloads documentation useful instructions for an upgrade:
example:
http://www.jdownloads.net/documentations/item/from-jd1-9-1-x-on-joomla-2-5-to-jd3-2-on-joomla-3-2?category_id=40
Thanks for the info Arno, I will give it a go tonight.
